Commentary:
I started making a Metamorphosis Alpha character using the original 1976 rules and was dumb struck with how little there was for a human. Is this all there is? There must be more to it than this.
So I'll go back to it later.
Instead, I'm going to take this opportunity to re-re-re-reboot my B/X to AD&D/BECMI game using 3.5e D&D. Strictly core Player's Handbook and Dungeon Master's Guide to start with.
My introduction to roleplaying games was the edition of Basic Dungeons & Dragons, edited by Tom Moldvay - the B in B/X. I wasn't able to obtain the 1981 Expert rules by Cook until decades later, but I did obtain the 1983 Expert rules and from that moved on to Companion and Master. Immortal level play didn't interest me and my characters, a hodgepodge of BECMI and 1eAD&D remained mortals.
Today I have a lot more experience in different games, writing, life, and many different systems. With that in mind and since I have always wanted to return to Mystara this is the perfect justification to remake the characters from the beginning in one system.
But first, a gentle warning to all Mystara purists - my campaign will cause you no end of emotional distress due to language, culture, religion, and migration changes. Rest assured, it's contained in my twisted mind and will not escape its sandbox.
